Annan Affotey is an artist who is celebrated for his colourful and expressive portraits. Born in Ghana, he has also lived the US, and now lives in Oxford. His son Ari is at our school. Annan’s work is prized by collectors all around the world, with his works selling for thousands of pounds. He is also one of the founders of the African Young Artist Organization (AYAO). We are beyond thrilled that Annan, renowned for his abstract works and portraits, has painted this one-off animal piece especially for our exhibition.

Penelope Timmis is an established artist from Shropshire. Her vibrant paintings are shown in many galleries throughout the UK. As well as her iconic birds, Penelope also paints landscapes and flowers. She is a member of the Society of Women Artists and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and has won various awards through the years.
Her birds are generally large but she has specially created this cockerel for St Barnabas Primary School. Penelope is a close family friend of two of our students, Gideon and Silas (the companion rooster “Gideon” is available on her website!). Silas The Rooster is a 31 x 31cm acrylic on board painting.

Nick Park is an animator and filmmaker best known for creating Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. His films have won many awards. His most famous bird character might be the evil penguin Feathers McGraw from the Wrong Trousers – or perhaps Ginger and Rocky from Chicken Run. When we opened the envelope containing this gem, there was no mistaking whose painting we were looking at. 10cm x 10cm canvas, signed on the back, and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Axel Scheffler is a famous illustrator whose drawings appear in many much-loved children’s books. He is best known for illustrating The Gruffalo and other stories written by Julia Donaldson. His colourful characters are enjoyed by children all around the world. The minute we saw this lovely owl we knew who had drawn it - it's the eyes! Or the moon's nose! Bill Bailey is a comedian, musician and actor. He is known for mixing music and humour in his comedy shows. He has appeared on many television programmes, winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, and enjoys birdwatching and nature. We jumped up and down with excitement when we opened this stunning picture from Bill. It is a 10cm x 10cm canvas, signed on the back, and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Rosie Jones is a comedian, writer and actress. She has appeared on many television shows and is the author of the Edie Eckhart children’s book series. Rosie has ataxic cerebral palsy, which impairs motor control and disrupts the body's ability to coordinate voluntary movements. Her charity, the Rosie Jones Foundation, provides mental health support for people living with cerebral palsy). We were so happy to receive Rosie's painting of a penguin, which is a 15 x 15cm canvas and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Dame Joanna Lumley is a national treasure! She has acted in many famous films and TV shows, and is particularly well known for her role in Absolutely Fabulous. She is also known for her travel programmes, and for supporting many charities and good causes. She loves birdwatching. We are honoured that such a living legend has sent us this lovely dove (or is it a pigeon). It is a 10cm x 10cm canvas, signed on the back, and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Phil Harding MBE is an archaeologist who was born in Oxford. He became famous through the television programme Time Team. He has spent many years discovering and studying Britain’s history, and is known for his knowledge, his love of nature – and his hat. Phil didn't indicate what kind of bird this is, but we love it – we think it might be a secretary bird. It is a 10cm x 10cm canvas, signed on the back, and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Dame Prue Leith is a much-loved chef, writer and TV star. She has run many restaurants and cookery schools, and has also been very active in improving school dinners! She is well-known as a presenter and judge of The Great British Bake Off. We were thrilled to receive this beautiful puffin from Dame Prue. Alison Steadman OBE is one of Britain’s best-loved actresses. She has appeared in many famous television shows and films, including Gavin & Stacey. She is known for playing warm, funny and memorable characters. She is a bird lover who has also presented nature documentaries. She has painted this lovely little robin especially for us. Samuel West is an actor and theatre director who has appeared in many films, TV dramas and stage productions. His parents Timothy West and Prunella Scales were also actors. Samuel is perhaps best known for Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small – here is his Great Spotted Woodpecker. Lucy Kingston is an artist and book shop owner based in Devon. This lot is 2 of her originals, which are hand printed onto old books. "No books are harmed in the making of Lucy's work" - she only uses books that are already beyond saving.

Rachel Ducker is sculptor who lives in Jericho. She originally trained as a jeweller but has become famous for her wire figures, which are alive with movement and expression. People all around the world collect Rachel’s work. We were delighted when she donated one of her fairies to our exhibition – a lovely fit with our school vision to "soar on wings". Charlie Arbuthnott was taught photography by Trevor Ashby at the City of Oxford College while studying for a Foundation Diploma in Art. She has photographed birds all over the world; her pictures have won competitions and been printed in national newspapers. Charlie is also Chair of Governors at St Barnabas. This photo (Herring Gull, Larus argentatus) was taken on Christmas Day 2009 in Dartmouth, Devon, UK. It is a 12 x 10" print and comes framed.
