Nick Park is an animator and filmmaker best known for creating Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. His films have won many awards. His most famous bird character might be the evil penguin Feathers McGraw from the Wrong Trousers – or perhaps Ginger and Rocky from Chicken Run. Lucy Kingston is an artist and book shop owner based in Devon. This lot is 2 of her originals, which are hand printed onto old books. "No books are harmed in the making of Lucy's work" - she only uses books that are already beyond saving.

Rachel Ducker is sculptor who lives in Jericho. She originally trained as a jeweller but has become famous for her wire figures, which are alive with movement and expression. People all around the world collect Rachel’s work. We were delighted when she donated one of her fairies to our exhibition – a lovely fit with our school vision to "soar on wings". Bill Bailey is a comedian, musician and actor. He is known for mixing music and humour in his comedy shows. He has appeared on many television programmes, winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, and enjoys birdwatching and nature. We jumped up and down with excitement when we opened this stunning picture from Bill. It is a 10cm x 10cm canvas, signed on the back, and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Phil Harding MBE is an archaeologist who was born in Oxford. He became famous through the television programme Time Team. He has spent many years discovering and studying Britain’s history, and is known for his knowledge, his love of nature – and his hat. Miss Fletcher needs no introduction to generations of St Barnabas pupils. She has created this brilliant Angry Birds image for us. It is 15cm x 15cm canvas, signed on the back, and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Lisa Curtis, also known as Lisa Made It, is a mural artist and illustrator based in Oxford. She has painted murals across the city. Her bright and colourful artwork is inspired by nature, people and community.If you came to our exhibition in person, you might have noticed Lisa’s artwork on your way into the building! She is also the source of the eagle we are using on our online auction. This is a limited edition A4 print.

Dame Prue Leith is a much-loved chef, writer and TV star. She has run many restaurants and cookery schools, and has also been very active in improving school dinners! She is well-known as a presenter and judge of The Great British Bake Off. We were thrilled to receive this beautiful puffin from Dame Prue. She is also known for her travel programmes, and for supporting many charities and good causes. She loves birdwatching. Bry Leighton is a collage artist who lives in Jericho. All her work is cut and glued by hand – not digitally collated – and she enjoys slicing images and splicing them together in unexpected combinations. Her work often includes tiny details to make you smile. Like arms on a bird. (Bry is afraid of birds and thought creating this artwork might make them less scary. It did not work.)

John Mair is a journalist, television producer and teacher who has worked for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. He helped create famous television programmes including Question Time and Watchdog. He has also written books about journalism and has taught many students about television, news and the media. He lives in Jericho and does a lot for the community – his My Jericho initiative has provided lots of funding and support for this project. Layla Moran is the Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon, which includes Jericho. Before becoming an MP, she worked as a teacher. She is known for supporting education, health and local community projects, and has recently visited our school. She created this delightful little painting especially for us. Joanna Clay is an artist and designer based in Oxford. Her paintings are inspired by nature, travel and the outdoors, and often use bright colours and patterns. She enjoys capturing special places and memories through her artwork so that people can feel connected to the scenes she has painted. Axel Scheffler is a famous illustrator whose drawings appear in many much-loved children’s books. He is best known for illustrating The Gruffalo and other stories written by Julia Donaldson. His colourful characters are enjoyed by children all around the world. The minute we saw this lovely owl we knew who had drawn it - it's the eyes! Or the moon's nose! Melinda Kenneway paints portraits and imaginative scenes using oil paints. Inspired by myths, legends and nature, her artwork often has a magical and dreamlike feeling. Melinda uses traditional painting techniques with many careful layers of colour to create rich detail and glowing light in her pictures. This work, created specially for this exhibition, is a 16cm x 16cm painting, oil on birch panel.

Sally-Anne Stewart is a printmaker based in the Florence Park area, working chiefly in linocut. Her work is inspired by nature, but also by the urban environment; and her subjects range from animals and plants to Oxford colleges. This piece is a limited edition print of an image inspired by a statue in Oxford's Pitt Rivers museum.

Ruth Swain is an artist based in Jericho. She paints portraits and still-life scenes using oil paints, watercolours and pastels. Her artwork often includes humour and storytelling, and she hopes her paintings make people smile. She also teaches art and has helped raise money for charity through her exhibitions. Now, Ruth's painting may not appear to have been 'inspired by birds' but it is a triple play on words. It is a "fig" (figure) of a "fig" (fruit) in the colours of a "fig" (bird, Sphecotheres).

David Wyatt is an illustrator and artist who has created artwork for many famous books, including The Hobbit and the Mortal Engines series, as well as Anna Kemp’s Goblyn Wood series from which this image is taken. David began drawing comics when he was young and enjoys using his imagination to create detailed and magical pictures. This is an original watercolour artwork, 13" x 10", double mounted and framed. It is signed by the artist and was used as the chapter ornament in The Howling Mountain by Anna Kemp. A copy of the book (and copies of the two earlier books in the Goblyn Wood series) is included in this lot.

Jenny Blyth grew up in Wales and Oxford with a love of nature and art. She worked at the famous Saatchi Gallery in London, where she helped launch some of Britain’s most famous artists. She is now the curator of Art Jericho. She believes creativity, hard work, and fun can help people achieve amazing things. This striking picture of a gull measures approx 7" x 9" and is a limited edition (1/25) print, produced as an archival museum-quality piece, mounted and framed.

Mrs Tillotson is the Art Lead at St Barnabas, and our Early Years teacher. Many local children have enjoyed and benefited from her creativity. Valerie Petts is an artist and book illustrator based in Oxford. She is well known for her paintings of Oxford and the surrounding countryside, especially Port Meadow. Valerie works with watercolours and oil paints, and her artwork has been shown in exhibitions in England, Japan and South Africa. She painted this beautiful picture of the birds and plants of Jericho during the coronovirus lockdown. A version of it is in display in Mount Place in Jericho. This original watercolour is a very special piece that we hope someone might buy to then donate to the school
