Let Nothing Be WastedGrocery stores work hard to offer quality food. As inventory changes, some food is removed from sale because of approaching dates, surplus, or small imperfections. When it meets donation standards, that food can still nourish our neighbors. After Jesus fed the multitude, He instructed His disciples: “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” — John 6:12 Food For Today puts that principle into action by helping grocery stores rescue more eligible food and donate it through trusted food bank and pantry relationships. Phase 1: Built. Tested. It Works. In a 90-day beta at one grocery store, Food For Today helped rescue 10,260 pounds of food in 513 boxes across 22 donations. We worked with store leaders and employees to support food rescue, prepare eligible donations, and hand food off through existing partner relationships. Thank you for helping us reach our first $1,500 fundraising goal. The beta showed what store-level support can accomplish. Now we need to build the organization that can make this work consistent and sustainable. Phase 2: Build the EngineThis is what your donation supports now. We are turning what worked in the beta into a repeatable system:

People: Recruit and train staff, leaders, and volunteers.

Store teams: Support employees and volunteers who identify and prepare eligible food.

Partnerships: Strengthen relationships among grocery stores, food banks, pantries, churches, and community organizations.

Logistics coordination: Help arrange pickups and reliable handoffs through existing partners.

Systems: Establish scheduling, training, communication, food quality, and tracking practices.

Measurement: Track donations and results so we can improve the work.

Rescuing food takes more than good intentions. It takes trained people, trusted relationships, and dependable systems. Your gift helps build that engine. Phase 3: Build a Model for Rescue OperationWith the engine in place, Food For Today will develop a model for reliable in-store food rescue. This phase brings together clear procedures, defined responsibilities, support systems, leadership, a financial model, and measures of success. The model will guide store onboarding, food quality and safety, donation preparation, volunteer coverage, pickup coordination, and partner handoffs. We will measure what is rescued, confirm that donations reach partners, and use the results to improve. Phase 4: Build the Rescue NetworkOver time, Food For Today plans to connect more grocery stores, food banks, pantries, churches, community organizations, volunteers, and transportation partners. When an existing partner cannot pick up or move eligible donated food, a stronger network can help close that gap. We will grow this network as our operations, partner capacity, and results support it. Your Gift Builds What Comes NextWhether you give $25, $50, $100, $250, or another amount, you are helping Food For Today build the people and systems needed to rescue more good food. Your support helps turn a successful beta into an operation that stores and community partners can count on. Jesus said, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.” — Matthew 25:35 Please give today. Together, we can help good food reach people instead of going to waste.
