FOOD FOR TODAY

Our mission

Mission

Food for Today rescues wholesome surplus food that might otherwise go to waste and redirects it through existing food banks, food pantries, churches, shelters, and community partners to help feed individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Vision

We envision a community where wholesome food is never wasted because transportation or coordination is unavailable. Food for Today will connect and close the gap between surplus food and people in need.

A FRIEND-RAISING CAMPAIGNBeyond the WallsOne Body, Many Churches, One MissionSaturday, August 29, 2026 | Carpenter Park, CarpentersvilleThe Church Without Walls Network Ministry campaign is first and foremost a friend-raising campaign. While financial support is always appreciated, its primary purpose is to build friendships and lasting relationships with churches throughout our community. We are inviting churches to provide volunteers - especially Prayer Warriors and Journey Guides - who will serve together during the Church Without Walls experience. This inaugural event will be a prototype of what can happen when people from different churches come together as one body, with one mission. We Begin With Prayer It is meaningful that the first thing we will do together as the Church Without Walls Network Ministry is pray. Before we build programs, organize future events, or establish a formal network, we will begin by seeking God together. Prayer will provide the spiritual foundation upon which this ministry can be built.Through our Prayer Circle, Prayer Tent, Prayer Closet, and Prayer Wall, believers from different churches will come together to pray with and for members of the community. This collective ministry of prayer will demonstrate that although we may worship in different buildings, we are united in Christ and share a common calling to serve. After beginning with prayer, one of the most important things we can do together is meet the practical needs of our neighbors through the Hope and Dignity Drive. Prayer establishes our spiritual foundation; compassionate service puts our faith into action. Together, these commitments - praying for people and responding to their needs - represent the heart of Church Without Walls. Our Primary Need: People Who Will Serve On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the Church Without Walls Network Ministry will come to life during Basement Festivities at Carpenter Park in Carpentersville. Our greatest need is people willing to share their time, presence, spiritual gifts, and prayers to help create a welcoming, compassionate, and Christ-centered experience.Prayer WarriorsWe are seeking compassionate believers who will pray with and for attendees through our four prayer experiences. Prayer Warriors will help create a safe and caring environment where people can share their concerns, receive encouragement, and experience the power of individual and collective prayer.Journey GuidesWe are seeking warm and welcoming volunteers who will help attendees select and explore a spiritual journey and connect with experiences centered on evangelism, fellowship, mission, and the Fruit of the Spirit. Journey Guides do not need to be theologians. They simply need to listen, encourage, offer direction, and demonstrate the love of Christ.Prayer Warriors and Journey Guides are our most immediate volunteer needs, but they are not the only ways your church can become involved. We also welcome members who can assist with greeting, registration, donation collection, hospitality, ministry experiences, and general event support. While volunteers and Hope and Dignity donations are our most immediate needs, the following five opportunities provide churches with additional ways to partner with us.Five Ways to Support Church Without Walls Attend and promote the event. Invite your congregation, include the event in your church announcements, share it through social media, and encourage members of your community to attend.Provide volunteers. Our primary volunteer needs are Prayer Warriors and Journey Guides. We also welcome volunteers who can assist with greeting, registration, hospitality, donation collection, ministry experiences, and general event support.Support the Hope and Dignity Drive. Invite your congregation to collect and donate the requested items to help us respond to community members experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and other challenges. This is one of the first ways participating churches can put our collective prayers and faith into action.Establish a church tent presence. We recognize that this invitation comes on short notice. However, if your church has the interest and capacity, we would be honored to have you participate in this inaugural event with a tent presence. Your church can introduce its ministries, share community resources, and build relationships with attendees and other participating churches.Make a financial contribution. Financial gifts will help provide the materials, equipment, and resources needed to bring the Church Without Walls experience to life and support its future development. An Invitation to Build Together While all five forms of partnership are meaningful, our two most immediate needs are volunteers and support for the Hope and Dignity Drive. We begin with prayer to establish our spiritual foundation, and then we move from prayer into compassionate service by helping provide hope and dignity to our neighbors. This campaign is ultimately about raising friends - churches and people who will pray with us, serve alongside us, and help shape the future of the Church Without Walls Network Ministry.Whether you represent a church, ministry, family, organization, or simply yourself, we invite you to begin a relationship with the Church Without Walls Network Ministry and help us demonstrate what is possible when believers come together beyond their individual church buildings. One Body. Many Churches. One Mission.Sign up today to serve, pray, participate, promote, or give - and help us carry faith, hope, and the love of Christ beyond the walls.
