&nbsp;In 2018, Gainesville Area Rowing found a home in a building that a local church&nbsp;had generously used for decades as Sunday school classrooms and a youth center. It wasn&#39;t designed to house ergometers, weight racks, or the daily grind of competitive athletes &mdash; but it was what we had, and we made it work. Since then, our rowers have done something remarkable: they&#39;ve kept getting better and the results are amazing:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Consistently recruited by college teams</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Qualifying for national teams&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Racing at Worlds (U.S.A. took silver)</li></ul> Despite the challenges of training in a space with outdated windows, no reliable climate control, aging floors, and equipment held together by persistence more than by parts. We&#39;re not asking for a facelift. We&#39;re asking for the basics our athletes have earned: a floor that&#39;s safe to train on, a building that holds temperature through a Florida summer and winter alike, and equipment that keeps pace with the effort our kids already put in every single day.These athletes have proven what they can do with almost nothing. Imagine what they&#39;ll do with a facility built to support them.
