Boria is a farmer in Ude, Georgia, who supports his family by growing potatoes and corn on 1.5 hectares of land. He has studied agribusiness and has spent years working the land with a small hand-guided tractor that is better suited to smaller plots. Because of its limitations, he still has to hire others with larger equipment to help work his fields. First Things Foundation is raising approximately $18,000 to help Boria purchase a Shifeng 504E tractor, compatible plough, and tiller. With the new equipment, Boria will be able to work his own fields with less intensive labor and reduce what he spends hiring outside help each autumn. He also plans to hire himself and the tractor out to other farmers around Ude, creating another source of income for his family. That additional income can be reinvested into more farmland, increased corn production, and the family’s poultry operation. The tractor will give Boria better equipment for the work he is already doing and create new earning opportunities within the farming community around Ude.
