*We change lives*Building Beyond the Walls is more than a construction training program—it is a movement that builds skills, confidence, community, and hope. Since 2015, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit has helped people in East Pierce County discover what they are capable of while creating lasting, practical improvements for the neighborhoods we all share.Through our free seven-day residential construction training program, participants from all income levels learn how to safely use tools, read measurements, work as a team, and complete real projects that serve real community needs. But the transformation goes far beyond hammers, drills, and saws. When a person learns they can build something with their own hands, they begin to believe they can build a stronger future for themselves and their families. Each class constructs a small structure for a nonprofit or community organization in need, ensuring every lesson immediately becomes a gift back to the community. Our projects have supported organizations such as the Soup Ladies, Low Income Housing Institute, ECEAP, Orting Veterans Village, and Prairie Ridge Community Center. Participants also commit to giving back 50 volunteer hours, creating a ripple effect of service that continues long after the class ends. Our work is powered by volunteers, educators, business owners, industry professionals, past graduates, and generous community partners who believe that opportunity changes lives. Together, we teach sustainable building practices, introduce youth to construction and service through our Building Kids initiative, support food access through more than 50 community pantries, and build accessibility ramps for neighbors in need. We also adapt equipment and processes so people with physical disabilities can safely participate and experience the dignity of building alongside others.Every donation to Building Beyond the Walls helps turn possibility into progress. Your support keeps training free, provides tools and materials, strengthens community partnerships, opens career pathways, and helps create tangible projects that serve families, children, veterans, food-insecure neighbors, and local organizations. When you give, you are not simply funding a program—you are helping people gain confidence, purpose, and a powerful sense of belonging. Please consider making a donation today. Your gift helps us build more than walls—it helps us build stronger people, stronger neighborhoods, and a stronger future for our community.
