Help establish the East African College of Health and Applied Sciences at Hope Missionary Hospital, Tororo - A new pathway for health workers to learn, practise and serve. Jungle Medical Missions is taking the next step in its vision for stronger, more sustainable healthcare in Uganda: building a local pathway for people to be trained, gain practical experience and serve their communities as qualified health workers. The proposed College will train nurses, midwives, laboratory technicians, public health officers, physiotherapists and dentists, with practical learning taking place within JMM’s own clinical network. By connecting education directly with clinical experience, the College will create a locally rooted pipeline of health workers who can go on to serve JMM facilities and communities where their skills are needed most. The goal is to build people who have the knowledge and skills to build healthier communities. WHY THIS MATTERS Every hospital, medical outreach and patient depends on having trained health workers available to provide care. For every 25,000 people in Uganda, there is just one doctor to serve them. JMM has experienced the challenge of limited qualified medical staff firsthand, while demand for its services continues to grow. The proposed College is part of a longer-term solution: JMM wants to invest in building a sustainable system that can continue producing health professionals year after year. Students will receive health sciences education and gain hands-on clinical experience through JMM’s hospitals and outreach work, preparing them to serve JMM facilities and communities where their skills are needed most. FROM LEARNING TO SERVICEThe vision is simple:TRAIN.Provide students with quality health sciences education.PRACTISE.Connect learning with hands-on clinical experience through JMM’s hospitals and outreach work.SERVE. Equip graduates to contribute their skills to JMM facilities and the wider communities that need healthcare professionals. WHAT YOUR SUPPORT CAN HELP MAKE POSSIBLE Establishing a training institution requires more than classrooms. JMM is seeking support for key areas including:

Registration and accreditation processes

Curriculum development

Founding academic and clinical staff

Classrooms and teaching spaces

Skills and simulation laboratory

Student accommodation

Teaching and laboratory equipment

Library and learning resources

These are the building blocks needed to move the College from a planned project to a functioning institution. HELP BUILD THE COLLEGE Establishing the East African College of Health and Applied Sciences will require resources to develop the facilities, learning spaces, equipment and systems needed to begin training future health workers. MAKE A ONE-TIME GIFTGive any amount you can to help move the College from a planned project to a functioning institution.Every gift helps bring the College one step closer to reality. BUILDING FOR THE YEARS AHEADThe goal is not simply to create another training institution. It is to establish a sustainable pathway for training qualified health workers who can eventually serve in JMM facilities and the wider health system. By 2030, JMM aims for the first graduating cohorts to include 60–100 trained nurses, midwives, laboratory technicians and allied health workers, while strengthening staffing capacity across its healthcare facilities. BE PART OF WHAT COMES NEXT The East African College of Health and Applied Sciences is an investment in people, skills and the future of healthcare.
