An unfinished stone house with a partially constructed roof stands against a cloudy, overcast sky.

In the mountain village of Ude in southern Georgia, Irma and her family are building Folk House-Kera. The house is being built as a place where guests can enter the life of the village through Georgian hospitality, mountain excursions, traditional feasts, local crafts and the ordinary rhythms of life in Ude. Proceeds from the project also help support village children learning art, agriculture and folklore. This fall, the family has a practical list of work to finish. The most urgent job is closing the open gable ends and porch ceiling before winter weather arrives. They also need to complete a 60-meter stone property wall with three gates and finish the remaining exterior stone siding and trim. Current work

Winterize the third level, gable ends and porch ceiling: $925

Build the stone property wall: $3,500

Install three gates: $900

Finish stone siding and trimwork: $470

Total needed: $5,795 Your gift will help Irma and her family finish this stage of Folk House-Kera and prepare the property for the winter ahead. First Things Foundation has worked alongside Irma and her family in Ude as this project has grown. Folk House-Kera belongs to them, to their village and to the hospitality they want to offer the people who come through their door. Help finish the work.
