Hay Barn We are building a hay barn this summer! This has been on our wish list ever since the beginning.&nbsp; This year is one that many locals have never seen in this area when it comes to water. Due to the lack of snow pack from last winter, our water capacity started the season at 50% of normal conditions. With this comes higher hay prices. We are paying 50%-60% more this year and I&#39;ve gotten the direct word of someone doubling their prices. We need to be able to store a large amount of hay. In the past, we have worked out deals with hay providers to keep the hay for us until we are able to store them ourselves. This has been a great setup except we keep coming up short in the last few months before spring due to various reasons. It can be quite difficult to find hay in that time period.&nbsp; With tarps, we can safely store up to 20 large (3x3x8) bales at a time. With this new barn, measuring 54&#39; wide and 50&#39; deep, we will be able to store 250! That&#39;s a really nice start on the 400 needed annually! We have also added a 12&#39; x 30&#39; loafing shed onto the back of the barn which will provide some great cover for horses. Finally, with proper placement, the barn will provide over 60&#39; of wind break in the corral area! With a goal of $30,000, we are already 86% of the way there, thanks to our angel on earth!&nbsp; There&#39;s just a little more work to do which includes hiring an excavator to level a 54&#39; x 62&#39; area of dirt for the barn and some gravel.
