FCCQ has an exciting opportunity - $2,400 has been raised on Luci's behalf by Waggle and designated for her ~$3,300 CT Scan. The Background : For those of you who don't know her, this sweet little void is Luci. She's been with us since December 2025 when she was brought to us by a concerned feeder who noticed her snuffles and snorts. We brought her to Flatbush Vet where she was examined, vaccinated and SNAP tested, given a round of antibiotics in case there was a bacterial URI, but nothing came back out of the ordinary, the antibiotics didn't change anything for her, and so an appointment was made to search for polyps. We were certain this was the issue and were shocked when Dr. Maguire notified us that they found nothing unusual, no sign of polyps anywhere during her ear, nose, and esophageal scope. The next step is a cranial CT scan. This will show if there are any masses, anomalies, blockages, foreign bodies, etc. that could be causing Luci's breathing problems. We got estimates of up to $6,000 for this visit, but we are ultimately able to have her little nogginx-rayed for the low, low *estimated* cost of only $3,300. A Life-Changing Opportunity for LuciThe rising cost of medical care is a tough reality everywhere these days, and the veterinary industry is no exception. For our own cats at home, cats living in communities across the boroughs, and for rescues like ours, cost can often be the reason that medical issues go untreated. At Foster Cats Collective of Queens, we made a commitment to each other and the cats that we would do our absolute best for every cat in our care. We refuse to compromise on urgent or diagnostic care simply because of a price tag. Luci deserves better. It breaks our hearts to think that she might be living with a condition that is easily treatable, or an issue that is quietly worsening simply because we don't have answers yet. As a small, new rescue, our every day reality is operating on a tight budget. But through a partnership with Waggle - a dedicated medical crowdfunding platform for animals - we have an incredible opportunity to change our reality and establish a lasting safety net. How the Funding Works - and Why We Need You Today Thanks to our amazing community and the folks at Waggle, $2,400 has been raised and designated to cover Luci's medical care. However, Waggle doesn't pay the clinic upfront. To receive the funds, FCCQ must pay the vet bill and submit the invoice to Waggle, who will then directly reimburse us. By raising $3,300 with your support, we will accomplish two vital goals. 1. Immediate Answers for Luci : We can cover her scan upfront, and hopefully solve the mystery of her diagnosis, without touching funds set aside for other needs. 2. The Creation of a $2,400 Revolving Medical Fund : When the scan is complete, Waggle reimburses our account, which will be the initial funding for a permanent emergency safety net. How a Revolving Medical Fund Helps : Having an active emergency reserve allows us to take immediate action for cats with severe trauma, or expensive medical treatment needs (like Luci). We can say YES without worrying about draining operational funds, and while treatment is underway, we will work with Waggle to fundraise for the emergency case. Funds they raise will go back into our emergency fund, stretching our initial $2,400 far beyond that and ready to help the next cat in crisis. Your contribution today isn't just a single donation for Luci; it is the foundational seed capital that powers a continuous cycle of emergency care for Queens cats. Will You Be 1 of 100 to Make a Difference? We are looking for 100 generous donors to give just $33 today to cover Luci's CT scan, unlock our Waggle reimbursement, and launch our emergency fund. Help us say YES to the injured, chronically ill, and cats desperate for diagnostic answers. On behalf of all of us at FCCQ and our sweet snorter, Luci, thank you for your support. Your gift gives Luci a real chance at a healthy life - and opens the door to saving countless more for years to come! Will you donate today?
