Summer should be more than a break from school. It should be a season when young people discover their abilities, strengthen their skills, explore new possibilities, and experience learning beyond the classroom. Future Seed&rsquo;s SEED Lab Summer Institute is a free, six-week summer learning experience designed for students in grades 4&ndash;8 from Baker and surrounding communities. The Institute combines academic enrichment, entrepreneurship, financial capability, nutrition, leadership, and hands-on learning into one comprehensive summer experience. Students begin their days strengthening critical reading, English language arts, and mathematics skills with support from qualified teachers and instructional partners. The program then brings learning to life through entrepreneurship.Entrepreneurship is more than one activity within the Summer Institute, it is the vehicle students use to practice:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Creativity and problem-solving</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Financial literacy and decision-making</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Communication and public speaking</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Teamwork and leadership</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Professionalism and personal responsibility</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Planning, budgeting, marketing, and customer service</li></ul>Students will develop their own business ideas and apply what they learn throughout the program. The experience will culminate in a student-led Market Day, where participants can present their products or services, interact with customers, and experience entrepreneurship in action. The Summer Institute will also include Healthy PLATE nutrition education, recreation, literacy activities, technology-supported learning, and Educational Journeys that expose students to businesses, colleges, cultural institutions, and other places where they can connect classroom lessons to the wider world. Our goal is to make the entire experience accessible to participating families.
