Elegant script spelling "Author Fund" floats against a celestial background of a starry night sky with swirling purple clouds and golden starbursts.

The Tri-Cities has readers. It's time we had a literary scene to match. The Author Fund is how we pay for it: readings, signings, and visits from the writers of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Where your gift goes:Most authors pay their own way to events, even the traditionally published ones. Publisher tour support has mostly disappeared unless your name is on the bestseller list, so when a writer drives out to the Tri-Cities for a signing, the gas, the hotel, and the dinner usually come out of their own pocket. The Author Fund exists so they don't have to.

$25 stocks the signing table with pens, bookplates, and a thank-you card

$100 lets us take a visiting author out to a proper dinner

$150 covers banners, signage, and swag so an event feels like an occasion

$300 pays for gas and a hotel night, enough to bring an author down for a signing

$800 covers a full weekend: two nights, meals, and the drive out and back

$1,500 fully sponsors a weekend event for a regional author from start to finish.

Every contribution adds up. A $25 gift from one reader plus twenty-nine others is $750, which is a night out that somebody's going to tell their friends about. Folklore Society is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
