We have a goal to raise 10k! Waves of Color creates opportunities for women to thrive in surfing through education, resources, and scholarships. 50% or more of our scholarships and programs support Women of Color (WOC) We hope to change the tide by being a leading organization to focus on supporting women and their surf journey.  We will offer surf instructor certification scholarships and funding to help women compete in surf competitions nationally. Your donations will help us cover essential start-up costs for the nonprofit and support the founders (Helen &amp; Stephanie), as we train to become International Surf Association (ISA) certified coaches this September. This certification will enable us to obtain the ISA surf coach qualification and required lifeguard certification, complete the surf coaching curriculum that is recognized worldwide, and provide educational opportunities for our communities. We hope to use what we learn to not only launch Waves of Color, but to provide on-going support for women who obtain ISA surf instructor certification scholarships through this nonprofit and our future programming. About Us: Waves of Color began as a surf and camp retreat in the Pacific Northwest, introducing Women of Color to surfing. After two summers of retreats along the Oregon coast in partnership with a nonprofit, Trail Mixed Collective, we saw the need for more lasting support. What started as seasonal gatherings grew into surf mentorships, community surf meet-ups, and off-season activities like surf skating, paddle boarding, and virtual surf education. Through this work, co-founders Helen and Stephanie met, and Helen’s mentorship helped Steph build confidence in surfing and her relationship with the ocean. Their shared passion for accessibility and representation in surfing led them to launch Waves of Color in August 2025. Now, we are working to train more women &amp; women of color surf coaches, provide scholarships and resources, and continue to share stories that inspire others to embrace their unique surf journeys.
