Meet Tails &mdash; a tiny fighter who needs your help to keep healing This sweet little boy was found running scared through the neighborhood behind the U.S. 40 Dollar General in Greenfield, Indiana. Alone, with no siblings in sight, he may have hitched a dangerous ride under a car and been injured in the process &mdash; or suffered trauma before he was ever found. A foster for another local rescue first spotted him with a badly damaged tail and spent nearly a week trying to catch him. Because of the severity of his injuries, they asked us to take him in on July 21, 2026. When Tails arrived, he was covered in fleas and maggots. He received multiple baths, Capstar, flea medication, a full deworming, and antibiotics. At the vet, we faced a hard choice: amputate immediately or attempt intensive wound care. We chose the path that would give his tissue the best chance to heal &mdash; weekly check-ins and careful wound management &mdash; so that if amputation ever becomes necessary, he will be as strong and healthy as possible beforehand.The good news? His tail is still raw, but it is improving. We are seeing new skin growth and healthy tissue forming. Because he is responding so well, we are continuing wound care for now, taking it one day at a time and ready to change course if needed.His foster has generously covered the wound-care supplies so far.
