Build Confidence Through Good MannersHelp your child build confidence, kindness, and respect in Armfield Recreation Center&#39;s Manners Class for ages 8&ndash;13. This fun, interactive class teaches practical social skills through role-playing, games, and real-life scenarios&mdash;not lectures.&nbsp; Participants will learn how to:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Make a great first impression</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Introduce themselves with confidence</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Use polite expressions like please, thank you, and excuse me</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Practice respectful communication and positive body language</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Show kindness, respect, and confidence at home, school, and in the community</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Demonstrate proper table manners and dining etiquette</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Set a table, use silverware correctly, and practice dining in a mock &quot;Manners Caf&eacute;&quot; Food Demonstration</li></ul>Students will participate in a dining etiquette demonstration using the following foods:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Goldfish crackers</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Dinner roll</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Water or Sprite (used to practice soup etiquette)</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Bananas and strawberries</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Sugar cookie or brownie</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Water or lemonade</li></ul>By the end of the class, students will leave with practical life skills that will benefit them for years to come.&nbsp; Class Information📅 Date: Sunday, September 13 🕜 Time: 1:30&ndash;3:30 PMRecommended Ages: 8&ndash;13yrsRegistration :&nbsp;ARC Members:&nbsp;$50📍 Location:&nbsp; First United Methodist Church &nbsp;210 W. Main Street &nbsp;Pilot Mountain, NC 27041&nbsp; Meet the InstructorKarrie Tilley attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Hospitality Management.&nbsp; Her professional background spans a wide range of industries, including roles with NASCAR, ESPN, and major global events such as the High Point Furniture Market, where she worked with the Promotional Division of Marilyn&#39;s Agency in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also spent seven years with the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Men&#39;s Basketball Officiating and Operations Department.&nbsp; Karrie and her husband, Josh, have been married since 2007 and live in Chapel Hill. Deeply rooted in her community, she has spent the past decade volunteering with organizations including:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Preschool at Chapel of the Cross</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Scroggs Elementary School</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">St. Thomas More Catholic School</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill</li></ul> She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Chapel Hill Country Club, where she leads the Pool Committee, serves as Co-Chair of the Social Committee, and is an active club ambassador.
