Last Bison Standing empowers students through health equity initiatives and community service, fostering leadership and mentorship to create a more equitable healthcare landscape. We aim to inspire future advocates for accessible health resources.

WE HAVE DECIDE TO GO HALF ON A BABY BISON &hellip;. AGAIN During the summer of 2021, we launched an initiative called Half on a Baby Bison. Our concept is simple: raise enough funds to cover half of an incoming freshman&rsquo;s annual tuition for a bison experiencing financial hardship.Tuition payments are applied after midterms &nbsp;of each semester. This timing is intentional, as it helps recipients satisfy outstanding balances and remain eligible to register for the following semester&rsquo;s classes. This initiative is our way of paying it forward to a Baby Bison who demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and a passion for serving others. For the 2026&ndash;2027 academic year, Howard University&rsquo;s tuition is $37,996. For clarity, this initiative is based only on the university&rsquo;s tuition charge that appears on a student&rsquo;s account. It does not include mandatory fees, housing, meal plans, or any other educational expenses. By committing to &ldquo;half,&rdquo; we pledge $18,998 toward a recipient&rsquo;s annual tuition, which is distributed as:Fall Semester: $9,499Spring Semester: $9,499 Our goal is to remove a significant financial barrier so deserving recipients &nbsp;can remain focused on earning their degree.

The Jonelle Cameron Grant In celebration of our longtime supporter Jonelle Cameron and her upcoming 20th anniversary as a member of Howard University&rsquo;s Class of 2007, we are proud to launch The Jonelle Cameron Grant&mdash;a named grant recognizing her continued commitment to supporting young mothers enrolled full time at Howard University while raising infants and toddlers. For years, Jonelle has quietly helped us help undergraduate moms. Her commitment is personal.&nbsp; She remembers what it meant for someone to show up for her when she needed support, and she has made it a point to extend that same support to young women coming behind her. Her motto says it best: &ldquo;There&rsquo;s no need to be blessed if you don&rsquo;t bless others.&rdquo; Through the years, the recipients our community has supported have gone on to graduate, secure employment in their respective fields, and pursue advanced degrees. Some are continuing their education in graduate programs, including public health, while another is currently pursuing her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). None of this work happens in isolation. Howard alumnae who were once undergraduate mothers themselves have played an important role in the success of this effort. They understand firsthand what it means to balance motherhood, academics, finances, and everything that comes with trying to earn a degree while raising a child. As Jonelle approaches her 20th anniversary as a Howard alumna in 2027, we could think of no better way to celebrate her continued service than to build something that helps another Howard mom finish what she started. And while this grant carries Jonelle Cameron&rsquo;s name, it is meant to be supported by our entire Herd. We hope Howard alumnae&mdash;and especially those who understand the journey of being a Howard mom&mdash;will join us in investing in the next young mother working toward earning her degree.&nbsp;

LAST BISON STANDING is a public 501(c)3 charity established for the purpose of allocating high school and post-secondary grant monies to individuals who have overcome life altering circumstances. &nbsp; Our organization is composed of dedicated alumni, undergraduate, and community volunteers working together to create a meaningful impact in the areas we serve. Since establishing ourselves during 2014-2015 academic year, &nbsp;Last Bison Standing has dedicated it&#39;s services to: &nbsp;1. Finding and recognizing both high school, college, and vocational students with exceptional leadership potential who are committed to serving their community.&nbsp; 2. Providing them with financial support for undergraduate study as well as fellowship with other students who are committed to making a difference. We have also created a Relief Fund to support our community. We firmly believe Relief comes in many forms:Care Packages that meet immediate and daily needs.&nbsp;Financial assistance to cover unexpected expenses.&nbsp;
