The extent of her poor physical condition had gone unrecognized. In her eight years, she had never had a hoof trim. Years of overgrown hooves damaged her hips and spine, and she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia as a result.She also had a deep, serious, untreated infection between her toes. While she was at the veterinarian’s office, her dewclaw sloughed off. Despite aggressive antibiotic treatment and a team effort to care for her, the infection has persisted.
