Sequoyah Fund Inc empowers EBCI artists and designers by providing opportunities for creativity, professional development, and cultural expression through events like the Kananesgi Fashion Show, celebrating Cherokee identity and artistry.

Event Center at Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Resort. Join us for our 8th Annual Kananesgi Fashion Show — a celebration of Cherokee creativity, culture, art, and style. Kananesgi is the Cherokee word for spider. In Cherokee culture, the spider represents creativity and being good with your hands. Kananesgi creates opportunities for EBCI artists and designers to create, grow, and share their work. Beyond the runway, the event provides professional and business development, workforce opportunities, and a space for Cherokee people to explore and express their identity through art and fashion. The Kananesgi Fashion Show features original collections from EBCI designers alongside a select group of guest Indigenous designers. This year, we are excited to welcome Leslie Deer of L.A. Deer Apparel and Sabrina Lombard of Native Nation Designs. Guests can also experience the Kananesgi Art Show, a judged exhibition featuring work from some of the best EBCI artists and makers. This year’s theme, “Unmuted: Art Is Your Voice,” celebrates art as a way to speak, connect, share identity, and make ourselves heard. We are excited to welcome you for an evening that celebrates contemporary Cherokee creativity while creating space for artists, designers, models, and makers to be seen and celebrated.General Admission — $25 Includes admission to the Fashion Show and Art Show.
