PROGRAM OVERVIEW Young Achievers, &quot;Passport to Success,&quot; is a six-month enrichment program of the Dover (DE) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, designed to introduce 9th-12th graders to leadership, culture, civic engagement, global citizenship, and wellness. &nbsp;Moreover, the Dover Links collaborate with the Psi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Incorporated to bring this vital mentoring program to fruition. Participants in the Young Achievers program will also have opportunities to be exposed to careers in STEAM professions--Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.&nbsp; The program objectives are to:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Close the high school academic achievement gap for African Americans and those of African ancestry.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Expose participants to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics related career fields.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Provide college readiness programming.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Promote historically black colleges and universities as viable options for college.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Introduce the importance of financial literacy and wealth.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Award college scholarships.</li></ul>Structure of the program at a glance:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" id="isPasted" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Submit application by Tuesday, November 30, 2026. &nbsp;<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" id="isPasted" style="box-sizing: inherit;">GPA requirement: 2.70</li><li fr-original-style="" id="isPasted" style="box-sizing: inherit;">$25.00 application fee required.</li></ul></li><li fr-original-style="" id="isPasted" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Orientation will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Will require a six-month commitment-- 2 sessions per month, 12 sessions in total.<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Sessions will convene every first and third Sunday of each month, between January and May of 2027.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Sessions will convene from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the Downtown Campus of Delaware State University.<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">The first session each month will be anchored in one of the facets of The Links, Incorporated--The Arts, National Trends and Service, International Trends and Service, and Health and Human Services. &nbsp;(NOTE: The Young Achievers Program falls under the first Facet of The Links, Incorporated--Services to Youth.)&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">The second session each month will be an immersive learning experience exposing participants to career paths in STEAM.</li></ul></li></ul></li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Every participant will be paired with a mentor.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">$250 scholarship dollars earned annually for participants who complete at least 10 of the 12 sessions.&nbsp;</li></ul>
