When Laurie Brooks, 53-year-old mother of four, develops terminal cancer and is given 6-12 months to live, she is riddled with anxiety. The biggest question that looms over her is, “Will her family be ok after she is gone?” Raised as an evangelical Christian and a graduate of seminary school, she has never done drugs in her life. She is one of the first four people that Canadian government grants permission to use psilocybin, known commonly as magic mushrooms. As part of a supervised therapy, she sets intentions and goes on a journey. Alternating between her fears and wonder, she emerges a changed person and is open to trying cannabis oil as part of her cancer treatment.
Sweeping views of the beautiful British Colombia forest punctuate this film. Dosed2 also features Gabor Maté and Paul Stamets, Laurie Brooks husband Glenn Brooks, her three children, her therapist and nurse that lead her on her psychedelic journeys.
