We are pleased to present that our AEG Puget Sound November Chapter meeting will be jointly presented with ASCE/Geo-Institute. Please join us in bringing together professional geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, students, and more! This event is graciously sponsored by Western States Drilling. Attendees will receive information about Western States' team, equipment, and capabilities. (AESI), where he specializes in near-surface engineering and hydrogeologic applications. Joe will present "Geophysical Applications in Pacific Northwest Engineering Geology" We hope to see you there! Presentation Abstract: From regional tectonic frameworks to site-specific infrastructure design, geophysics offers powerful tools to image the complex subsurface geology of the Pacific Northwest. This presentation examines the current state of consulting geophysics and how modern equipment and improved data processing are transforming local site characterization. Through a series of practical case studies involving seismic site response, void detection, and hydrogeologic investigations in glacial terrain, we will highlight real-world successes and lessons learned. Attendees will gain actionable insights into how and when to integrate these methods into their own projects to maximize subsurface data density, manage risk, and streamline engineering design.
