Join us on October 31, 2026 at 12 PM at the WorldBeat Cultural Center for the annual Os Malandros de Mestre Touro Batizado — a celebration of Capoeira, culture, community, and the next generation. We are honored to welcome living legend Mestre Touro, alongside other Mestres traveling all the way from Brazil to San Diego to share their knowledge, history, music, movement, and traditions with our community. The Batizado is a special Capoeira ceremony where students are recognized for their growth, receive their cords, and celebrate another chapter in their journey. We are especially proud to honor our own Mestre Preto Velho — the first African American in the United States to become a Capoeira Mestre — whose work continues to create space for African American youth in San Diego to connect with Capoeira and its African roots. Come experience the roda, live music, cultural vendors, community, and the powerful traditions of Capoeira. Guests will also have opportunities to donate and directly support the continued work of Os Malandros de Mestre Touro and the youth we serve. 📍 WorldBeat Cultural Center — San Diego📅 October 31, 2026⏰ 12 PM Come celebrate our students, honor our Mestres, and experience a tradition that connects generations across Brazil, Africa, and the USA. 🇧🇷🌍
