Building the Heartland After the Election: Connecting Our Communities, Sharing Our Stories & Building What Comes Next Join us on November 20–21, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, for Building the Heartland, a two-day community gathering bringing together immigrant families, community members, youth, organizers, and advocates from Iowa and Nebraska. As our communities navigate the political climate after the election, it is more important than ever to come together, listen to one another, share our experiences, and think about how we move forward. This gathering will create space for honest conversations, learning, connection, and collective action. We will hear directly from families impacted by immigration raids, discuss the effects of mass deportation on our families and communities, and explore what the post-election lame-duck period could mean for immigrant communities.Throughout the two days, participants will also have opportunities to strengthen their leadership and storytelling skills, learn about the American Dream and Promise Act and related advocacy efforts, and identify ways to stay connected and take action in their communities.
