As North Carolina prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution (NC250), we have a wonderful opportunity for you to explore how national history connects&nbsp;directly to the place where they live.Local historian Andy Kelly is offering a short presentation focused on the&nbsp;history of Lewisville and the surrounding Yadkin Valley during the Revolutionary era.Using a large visual display, Andy guides you through the stories of people and places that shaped our community, including:&bull;&nbsp;Shallow Ford &ndash; a major crossing along the Great Wagon Road&nbsp;&bull; Daniel Boone&rsquo;s early travels through the region&nbsp;&bull; Col. Joseph Williams and Revolutionary War activity nearby&nbsp;&bull; George Elias Nissen and the wagon industry that helped build the town&nbsp;&bull; The founding of Lewisville by Lewis Laugenour&nbsp; Discover how national events like the American Revolution unfolded right here in Forsyth County and see history not as something distant, but as something that happened in the very places you know.
