Blu Skillet Ironware - Hand Forged 10" French Skillet
$330

Starting bid

French skillets are a cross between a fry pan and a saute pan. They have higher, less flared sides, and hold more volume. The long handles stay cool on the stovetop and fit comfortably in the hand, and this one was made right here in Washington state!

Blu Skillet Ironware is the collaborative partnership of Patrick Maher and Caryn Badgett. Patrick’s been a blacksmith for 30+ years, making sculpture and custom architectural metalwork, and Caryn was a painter working in community development.

They were always playing in the studio and one day Patrick made a pan...they made some for friends and had such amazing feedback, they launched Blu Skillet Ironware in the spring of 2013.

They got their start with a very supportive community at the Ballard Farmers Market, and they continue that engagement back at the shop with open studios and demonstrations of forging a simple carbon steel pan from raw materials.

You are bidding on one carbon steel 10" French skillet. THIS ITEM IS FOR TONIGHT'S PICK UP ONLY!

Donate to Help Fill Local Food Boxes with Ethical Meat
$3,000

Starting bid

Make Meat Accessible for Everyone! With a donation of $3,000 we can distribute almost 220 pounds of meat to communities who face food insecurity!

Meat. It is typically overlooked or not included when families in need receive free food boxes. When it is included, it is often a product of the conventional meat supply chain–which has its share of issues. Even if families get meat on their tables, there are still some economic barriers to accessing high quality meat products. We know this.

We also know that protein is essential to a complete diet. Excluding it doesn't meet nutritional needs of young children and families. Sourcing it from global supply chains doesn't help local food systems stay resilient, and it most certainly doesn't support local, ethical meat producers.

We can't directly change some of these things. But we can do something...Here's what we were able to accomplish with the help of donors like you:

- We distributed 192 lbs of local, high quality meat (2lbs per box/per week) into local FREE food boxes for 16 families for 6 consecutive weeks!
- We raised money to be able to make direct wholesale purchases from values-based, local meat producers in Lane County, helping them stay economically viable!
- We built community around shared values of autonomy, dignity, and accessibility!

With your donation, you will receive the following:

  • One Brodeo Dr Meat Sweats Quick Dry Towel
  • An acknowledgement in GMP's Annual Impact Report
