Girls in Aviation Day is an annual global initiative founded by <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.wai.org/giad" id="isPasted" rel="noopener" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; -webkit-user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Women in Aviation International</a> (WAI) to inspire girls aged 8 to 18 to explore careers in aviation, aerospace, and STEM. The events connect young participants with industry role models, hands-on activities, and aircraft displays. Launched in 2015, the international event has rapidly grown, now drawing tens of thousands of participants worldwide every September. It is held across dozens of countries, with localized events hosted by WAI chapters, aerospace companies, and flight schools at airports and museums. The San Diego Chapter of Women in Aviation will be hosting our annual GIAD on September 19th at the Air Center San Diego at Brown Field Municipal.
