Natalia Mela transformed metal, stone, and marble into dynamic sculptural forms that conveyed movement, strength, and innovation. Drawing inspiration from nature, mythology, and everyday life, she reimagined familiar subjects through bold forms and expressive materials.

Pepi Svoronou explored color, texture, abstraction, and emotional resonance through a highly personal visual vocabulary. Her work demonstrates the power of artistic freedom and the capacity of color and form to communicate meaning beyond words.

Together, these two trailblazing artists reveal how creativity, experimentation, and individual vision can challenge expectations and expand artistic possibilities.

Session II

Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika and Yannis Tsarouchis

Two Modernist Masters of Form and Expression

The second session examines two of the most influential voices of Greek modernism. While each developed a highly individual artistic approach, both transformed familiar subjects through innovation in form, composition, and expression.

Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika reimagined landscape, architecture, and space through a sophisticated modernist language influenced by Cubism and European avant-garde movements. His work reflects a masterful understanding of structure, rhythm, and visual composition.

Yannis Tsarouchis brought new depth and humanity to figurative painting through his exploration of everyday life, tradition, theater, and the human figure. Blending influences from Byzantine art, folk traditions, and modern European painting, he created works that remain among the most celebrated achievements of twentieth-century Greek art.

Together, Ghika and Tsarouchis demonstrate how artistic vision can transform the familiar into something entirely new while expanding the language of modern art.
