Philly has a mascot named Gritty - and the whole world gets it. But beyond rough and raw, we're exuberant and playful (which is why Gritty is so damn lovable). That said, we all know that it being "always sunny in Philadelphia", is a big joke. In fact, even when it is sunny (as the show illustrates), situations are often rot.

Our native art often reflects this duality. Beautiful chaos; wise confusion; delicate strength.
Two local artists which exemplify the Philly duality expression style, are Jim Bloom & Paco Laborde (AsAboveSoBelow). Live CarePhilly is blessed to have work from both artists and so, in our effort to raise support so that in turn we may be support - we are letting go of some of it.

A very personal note from Zachary about Paco:
Paco Laborde was a seminal Philadelphia urban artist ... and friend. His influence on the evolution the "Live CarePhilly Idea" goes back decades. As a brother in rest, the art I have of his is invaluable to me.

But so are the memories.

And I have many memories of many conversations he and I had about sacrifice, about community, about Philly and most of all, about Love.

Letting go of any of his work is extremely hard for me to do but, he'd be pissed if I did not. We loved our ideas, we were passionately in Love with Philly, and we often hoped to start something together one day, since the beginning of our friendship.

This all may be entirely the wrong sort of description for this raffle item but he's Paco Laborde (aka AsAboveSoBelow) - he needs no description or introduction. And to me its more important for people to know about him personally, than simply describe the art you can see for yourself.
