The Memory Mile Walk is a community event dedicated to honoring loved ones affected by dementia, raising awareness, and supporting families impacted by memory loss and other cognitive changes. Participants will walk together at sunset in a meaningful, family-friendly setting, celebrating memories while helping fund local education, early detection, and support services. Every step taken brings connection, remembrance, and a stronger path forward for those living with dementia and their care partners.Together, we will walk one mile through the heart of Abingdon, beginning at the Visitor&rsquo;s Center and continuing east along Main Street to the Washington County Courthouse, where we will pause for a group photo. The walk will then return west along Main Street, concluding back at the Visitor&rsquo;s Center. Participants are encouraged to wear purple and will carry a battery-operated candle throughout the walk, both as a symbol of hope and to raise awareness for those impacted by dementia. Along the route, luminaria will line the path, each one dedicated in memory or in honor of a loved one, creating a powerful and moving tribute that reflects both remembrance and resilience.
