Week 1: Storymakers Studio

In this week-long visual arts camp, young artists learn how illustrators turn ideas into images that communicate characters, settings, & stories. Campers explore drawing, design, and& sequential art while creating their own illustrated story or book cover.

Week 2: Stitch & Dip Creations

July 7-10, 2026

ages 8-12 years old
9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Immerse in the world of textile creations with Maddie James. Students will be introduced to natural dye methods using Indigo, dye resist techniques, basic sewing methods, & embroidery.

We will explore how to tell stories using these different mediums & students will explore how to transform up-cycled materials into beautiful works of art.

Week 3: Methow Musings Writing Camp

July 13-16, 2026
ages: rising 3rd-6th grades

9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.

In this half day summer camp, students will have some fun with words & explore their inner & outer worlds through writing.

What’s a Pantoum about a Platypus? An Ode to an Orange? A Haiku about the Methow River? Different form & free verse poems as well as local field trips will provide us with inspiration.

The week will be taught by experienced writing instructor Nick Littman.

Week 4: My View: A Nature Journal

ages: 8-12 years old
9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Students will be led through a journey of observation, questioning, recording & interpretation with Nick Littman & Maddie James.

Participants will bind their own books which they fill with poems, notes, sketches, paintings & ponderings about their environment & inner-world. Daily practice will involve nature walks, independent reflection time & community building through collaboration & sharing.

Week 6: Wild Lines: Animal Drawing Intensive

ages: 8-12 years old
9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

This camp invites young artists to study & celebrate local Methow wildlife through careful observation, drawing, & sculpture. Campers learn how artists capture movement, texture, & personality while connecting art-making to the animals that share our valley.
