Classic Catskill Dry Flies by Phil Street. Framed by Peter Leitner
A few years ago, Lance Hidy explained the technique that he was using to photograph his dad's and Jim Leisenring's flies, where you take multiple shots of a fly with different focus points and then layer them digitally on top of each other, which creates a final image of incredible detail. In this shadowbox that Phil asked to be built and donated to the Mid-Hudson Trout Unlimited fundraising dinner and auction, Phil's idea was to combine layered photo's (120-images of each fly) that he created using Lance Hidy's technique, of a Harry Darbee tied Beaverkill, an Elsie Darbee tied Quill Gordon and Rube Cross tied Light Cahill with flies that he tied after studying the images to replicate them as closely as possible. The frame stock is from Mike Canazon's White House in Livingston Manor, NY, donated by Tom and Martha Mason. The dimensions of the frame are approximately 23" x 15" x 3".
