Sponsor the Moab Human Waste Initiative — Help Keep Moab's Trails and Waterways Clean Your sponsorship of the Moab Human Waste Initiative does more than fund a campaign. It protects the trails, creeks, and public lands that make Moab one of the most extraordinary places on earth. Led by Steward Moab in partnership with local, state, and federal land agencies, the Human Waste Initiative is a countywide effort to change how visitors think about, and manage, human waste in the backcountry. Through disposal infrastructure, trail-side conversations, and county-wide messaging, the initiative reaches visitors at every touchpoint of their Moab experience, from the trailhead to the toilet to the drive home. This work matters because Moab's desert doesn't forgive carelessness. Human waste left behind contaminates water sources, lingers for over a year in the arid climate, and puts both visitors and the landscape at risk. The Human Waste Initiative gives land managers, guides, and businesses a unified way to educate every visitor, across every recreation group, before the damage is done. The numbers speak for themselves:

🚽 33+ tons of human waste diverted from Moab's public lands

💬 10,000+ trail conversations on Wag Bag disposal practices

🤝 10+ local, state, and federal partners collaborating on this work

🥾 200,000+ trail users educated across hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and OHV/4x4

Protecting Moab's landscape starts with informed visitors.
