A behind-the-scenes look at a new ballet in creation Join Pointeworks for an open rehearsal of a new work by Jacquelyn Long, created during our 2026 Season. This event offers a unique window into that process&mdash;inviting audiences to engage not just with the final product, but with the making of the work itself. About the Choreographer Jacquelyn Long is a Houston-based dancer and choreographer originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She dances as a Soloist with the Houston Ballet, where she has been a member since 2012. In 2018, Long participated in a choreographic workshop for women only called Elle &Eacute;merge. The pas de deux she created in the workshop it just keeps going was chosen to be performed by the Houston Ballet at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in 2019. This experience became the start of Long&rsquo;s choreographic career that she has continued while still dancing professionally.&nbsp; She has created 8 professional works at Houston Ballet, Houston Ballet II, and Ballet Virginia including her celebrated work Illuminate on Houston Ballet which debuted in 2023 and returned to the Wortham Theater in 2025. Her choreography period began in New York City this January and culminated in a 15-minute ballet inspired by the Earthly elements fire, wind, water and air. After a successful creative residency, we are thrilled to premiere this work on stage in June at the Conrad in La Jolla, CA.
