OMA Artist Fee

Opening Minds Through Art (OMA) is an award-winning, evidence-based, intergenerational artmaking program for people living with dementia. It was developed at Scripps Gerontology Center, an Ohio Center of Excellence at Miami University, in 2007. People living with dementia (Artists) are paired with Volunteers (College Art Therapy Students) who are trained to rely on imagination instead of memory and focus on remaining strengths instead of lost skills. OMA enables people living with dementia to assume new roles as artists and teachers and leave a legacy of beautiful artwork. Jacoby is offering an 8 week session to persons living with dementia in our downtown Alton community arts center this Spring. Dates this semester are Saturdays from Sept 19th - Nov14th. Artists will meet with an assigned Volunteer and experienced Program Facilitator, Chris Baker, to create beautiful, meaningful artwork.&nbsp; Please note: Dates for this semester are 9/19, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, &nbsp;and 11/14 A Reception will be held for our Fall OMA semester on Friday, November 20th from 5:30-7pm. The OMA fee covers all art materials and facilitation of the program. Your Artist will attend the program on 8 consecutive Saturdays at Jacoby Arts Center from 10:30-11:30am at 208 State Street in Downtown Alton, IL.&nbsp; The fee covers all materials and facilitation so you do not need to bring anything with you. Please have your Artist wear clothing they can get artistic in without concern.
