Graphite Transfer Workshop

Join Brandywine Workshop and Archives Artist in Residence, Sok Song and Master Printer Alexis Nutini for an evening exploring the layered processes behind Song's recent print series created during his residency. The program begins with a gallery discussion of the prints, followed by a live demonstration of multi-layer woodblock printing by Nutini, revealing how successive layers of color, camouflage, and registration build complex compositions. Participants will then learn Song's graphite transfer process, an experimental pressure-printing technique that creates detailed images without ink. Through pressure, texture, and layering, participants will create graphite impressions while exploring how everyday textiles can become archives of identity, memory, and lived experience.Participants are encouraged to bring their own soft materials to print, such as garments, fabric, lace, or other textiles that can safely pass through an etching press. Please do not bring hard materials such as wood, metal, or other rigid objects. A selection of materials will also be provided for participants to experiment with during the workshop.
