Shakespeare Downtown evolved out of 10 years of successful productions. Geoffrey Horne, the director, is a co-founder of Shakespeare Downtown, and a long-time member of the Actors Studio. He also worked as an actor in movies such as The Bridge on the River Kwai and Bonjour Tristesse, and in the theatre and television. Billie Andersson is the co-founder of Shakespeare Downtown, an actress, and producer of 20 plays. She is a graduate of Barnard, and studied acting at Strasberg, and with William Esper.
