We hope you can join us as we celebrate our Veterans and their families. About Corey ArceneauxFourth-Generation Creole Accordionist • International Creole Zydeco Ambassador • Bandleader • Broadcaster • Composer Zydeco legend Corey Arceneaux is a fourth-generation Creole accordionist, carrying a family legacy that spans over 90 years. With his vision, he’s guiding that tradition into its fifth generation. A living link to zydeco’s golden era, he preserves and expands Louisiana’s Creole and zydeco roots while mentoring younger musicians. A native of Carencro, Louisiana, Arceneaux began his musical journey at age 11 in 1986, when his parents purchased his first accordion, a red Bandmaster from the Sears catalog for $100. That simple instrument began a four-decade musical journey that would take him from Louisiana dance halls to stages and festivals across the United States and across the world. Arceneaux comes from one of zydeco’s pioneering musical families. His great-grandfather, Ferdinand Arceneaux, was a Creole accordionist who played traditional La La music at Louisiana house dances. His great-uncle Fernest Arceneaux, the legendary “New Prince of the Accordion,” helped shape zydeco’s evolution and became one of Corey’s earliest musical influences. After touring with Fernest for a year, Corey formed Corey Arceneaux and the Zydeco Hot Peppers in 1991. In addition, his maternal great-uncle Rodney Bernard is an accomplished musician and has played various instruments with legendary Zydeco and rock bands since the late 1940s. Arceneaux has built a reputation as an expressive and versatile piano accordionist, vocalist, songwriter, composer, and bandleader. His musical language is rooted in traditional Louisiana Creole zydeco while embracing influences from blues, R&B, soul, country, and other American roots traditions. The result is a style that respects the music’s history while allowing it to move forward. His career has extended well beyond the stage. Arceneaux has also been an award-winning commercial radio personality and advocate for zydeco, Southern Soul, and Louisiana Creole culture. Through broadcasting, performing, and cultural advocacy, he has introduced new audiences to Louisiana music while championing the artists and traditions that make the culture unique. In 2026, Arceneaux entered a new chapter with Corey Arceneaux & the Zydeco Fusion Band and the release of Accordion Man. Released May 22, 2026, the album celebrates his 40 years as an accordionist and represents a deeply personal milestone: his first full feature recording with all three of his sons. The project brings the Arceneaux family’s musical heritage into its fifth generation. His sons—Desmond, Corey Jr., and Tyler — each contribute to the project, making Accordion Man both a musical statement and a family legacy project. Desmond contributes bass and guitar, Tyler contributes drums, percussion, and scrubboard, and Corey Jr. contributes as a producer. Recorded at Dockside Studio in Maurice, Louisiana, Accordion Man combines the sounds and traditions that shaped Corey with a contemporary approach to songwriting, arranging, mixing and production. The album features contributions from accomplished musicians including Grammy-winning guitarist Joe “Cookie” Chavis and Cecil Green, while Corey wrote nine of the album’s ten tracks. At the heart of the album is Corey’s relationship with the accordion itself. After 40 years with the instrument, Accordion Man reflects not only what he learned from the generations before him, but also what he wants to pass forward. His approach is deeply personal—technical when necessary, instinctive when inspired, and always connected to the groove and emotional character of the music. That commitment to both heritage and innovation has earned Arceneaux recognition as an important contemporary voice in Louisiana Creole and zydeco music. Living Blues Magazine described Accordion Man as a project that honors the Arceneaux musical legacy while establishing Corey as “one of the genre’s modern-day stalwarts.” For Corey Arceneaux, the mission has never been simply to preserve the past. It is to keep the music alive by allowing it to grow. Today, as an International Creole Zydeco Ambassador, recording artist, bandleader, broadcaster, composer, and father, Corey Arceneaux stands at the intersection of tradition and the future. Four generations came before him. His sons now stand beside him. And the music keeps moving forward. https://coreyarceneaux.com/bio
