The project features collaborations with Walking Eagle, Joe Louis Walker, Annika Chambers, Dave Keller, Sean Hurley, and Doug Woolverton, and has been celebrated for its authenticity, spiritual depth, and genre-defying fusion.According to DC Music Review, “Carly is grace, confidence, originality, and the right amount of sexy swagger all at once. She commands the stage with her voice and presence and draws you in intensely—then ends each song with an infectious smile of pure gratitude that beams so brightly into the audience.”With over 70 cities and six countries under her touring belt since 2023, Carly Harvey continues to carry the Blues forward—rooted in heritage, grounded in authenticity, and guided by spirit.
This program is made possible with generous support from United Therapeutics. FREE & Everyone Welcome! This presentation sketches major themes of the county’s evolution and development, lavishly illustrated by an array of vintage photos, maps and other images. ABOUT RALPH BUGLASSRalph Buglass, a Montgomery County native and avid history buff, has taught at lifelong learning institutes associated with Johns Hopkins and American Universities and Montgomery College. He speaks frequently to community groups, businesses, and other organizations as well as at national conferences. In 2020, with Peerless Rockville, he co-authored Images of America: Rockville, a pictorial history of the city’s 250 years. A retired communications professional, he is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School and has a B.A. in American history from Cornell and an M.A. in journalism from American University. This event is presented in collaboration with Montgomery History. MONTGOMERY HISTORY—the county’s historical society—has been preserving and telling the county's diverse history since its founding in 1944. Silver Spring Town Center Inc is pleased to present the new "Summer Music Series at the Bio Wall" at United Therapeutics. This monthly program will feature a global mix of roots and rhythms. We are kicking off the series with Daryl Davis & Friends performing Blues, R&B, Pop and, of course, Boogie Woogie! Daryl will be joined on stage by an amazing line-up including Guy Bouchie on guitar, Johnny Castle on bass and El Torro Gamble on drums! This program is made possible with generous support from United Therapeutics. Daryl Davis is an international recording artist, published author, actor and leader of THE DARYL DAVIS BAND. Born in the Electric Blues Capital of the world, Chicago Illinois, DARYL absorbed the influences of the South from musicians who traveled North from the Mississippi Delta, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Missouri to this Blues Mecca. Today, he resides in Maryland, just a few minutes from Washington, DC. DARYL DAVIS earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from Howard University in Washington, DC where he was a member of their world famous and renowned Jazz Vocal Ensemble. In addition to being a vocalist, guitarist, and composer, DARYL is a keyboardist extraordinaire. Upon graduation, DARYL went on to work with such artists as Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley’s Jordanaires, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Platters, The Drifters, The Coasters, Bo Diddley, Percy Sledge, and Sam Moore (of Sam & Dave), to name a few. Both Pinetop Perkins and Johnnie Johnson, considered to be the greatest Blues & Boogie Woogie and Blues and Rock’n’Roll pianists respectively, both have claimed DARYL as their godson. They have both praised his ability to master with authenticity, a style that was popular 20 years before he was born, progressing through the styles of many pioneers including Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and beyond. It was this ability that landed DARYL in the piano slot for The Legendary Blues Band (which was the Muddy Waters band) and the piano slot for Chuck Berry. Both positions were once held by Perkins and Johnson. As a recording artist, DARYL DAVIS was the featured pianist on the Cephas & Wiggins Grammy-nominated album Flip, Flop & Fly. As a composer, in addition to his own hits, I’m a Boogie Man and Broadminded and many other originals, DARYL scored the music to the children’s story, Abigail. His own CDs are titled, American Roots, Alternate Routes and Greatest Hits. After having been with so many others, helping them to do their thing in nightclubs, concert halls, festivals, recordings, films, radio & television, from the United States to Europe, don’t miss seeing DARYL DAVIS with his own group doing his own thing!

Join us for the 18th Annual Tribute to America's Veterans Concert, featuring 4th generation Zydeco legend Corey Arceneaux and his Band 🎵. This year's keynote speaker is Donald Thigpen, Jr., Esq. with the Sons of the American Legion. The event will take place Friday, November 6th at 6PM at the American Legion Post 41. This free community event honors those who have served while bringing neighbors together through live music and shared stories. The annual Tribute to America's Veterans Concert is presented by Silver Spring Town Center, Inc. in collaboration with the Montgomery County Commission on Veterans Affairs, the American Legion Post 41, the Sons & the Auxiliary of the American Legion. This event is made possible with generous support from the Walter Reed Society. We hope you can join us as we celebrate our Veterans and their families. About Corey ArceneauxFourth-Generation Creole Accordionist • International Creole Zydeco Ambassador • Bandleader • Broadcaster • Composer Zydeco legend Corey Arceneaux is a fourth-generation Creole accordionist, carrying a family legacy that spans over 90 years. With his vision, he’s guiding that tradition into its fifth generation. A living link to zydeco’s golden era, he preserves and expands Louisiana’s Creole and zydeco roots while mentoring younger musicians. A native of Carencro, Louisiana, Arceneaux began his musical journey at age 11 in 1986, when his parents purchased his first accordion, a red Bandmaster from the Sears catalog for $100. That simple instrument began a four-decade musical journey that would take him from Louisiana dance halls to stages and festivals across the United States and across the world. Arceneaux comes from one of zydeco’s pioneering musical families. His great-grandfather, Ferdinand Arceneaux, was a Creole accordionist who played traditional La La music at Louisiana house dances. His great-uncle Fernest Arceneaux, the legendary “New Prince of the Accordion,” helped shape zydeco’s evolution and became one of Corey’s earliest musical influences. After touring with Fernest for a year, Corey formed Corey Arceneaux and the Zydeco Hot Peppers in 1991. In addition, his maternal great-uncle Rodney Bernard is an accomplished musician and has played various instruments with legendary Zydeco and rock bands since the late 1940s. Arceneaux has built a reputation as an expressive and versatile piano accordionist, vocalist, songwriter, composer, and bandleader. His musical language is rooted in traditional Louisiana Creole zydeco while embracing influences from blues, R&B, soul, country, and other American roots traditions. The result is a style that respects the music’s history while allowing it to move forward. His career has extended well beyond the stage. Arceneaux has also been an award-winning commercial radio personality and advocate for zydeco, Southern Soul, and Louisiana Creole culture. Through broadcasting, performing, and cultural advocacy, he has introduced new audiences to Louisiana music while championing the artists and traditions that make the culture unique. In 2026, Arceneaux entered a new chapter with Corey Arceneaux & the Zydeco Fusion Band and the release of Accordion Man. Released May 22, 2026, the album celebrates his 40 years as an accordionist and represents a deeply personal milestone: his first full feature recording with all three of his sons. The project brings the Arceneaux family’s musical heritage into its fifth generation. His sons—Desmond, Corey Jr., and Tyler — each contribute to the project, making Accordion Man both a musical statement and a family legacy project. Desmond contributes bass and guitar, Tyler contributes drums, percussion, and scrubboard, and Corey Jr. contributes as a producer. Recorded at Dockside Studio in Maurice, Louisiana, Accordion Man combines the sounds and traditions that shaped Corey with a contemporary approach to songwriting, arranging, mixing and production. The album features contributions from accomplished musicians including Grammy-winning guitarist Joe “Cookie” Chavis and Cecil Green, while Corey wrote nine of the album’s ten tracks. At the heart of the album is Corey’s relationship with the accordion itself. After 40 years with the instrument, Accordion Man reflects not only what he learned from the generations before him, but also what he wants to pass forward. His approach is deeply personal—technical when necessary, instinctive when inspired, and always connected to the groove and emotional character of the music. That commitment to both heritage and innovation has earned Arceneaux recognition as an important contemporary voice in Louisiana Creole and zydeco music. Living Blues Magazine described Accordion Man as a project that honors the Arceneaux musical legacy while establishing Corey as “one of the genre’s modern-day stalwarts.” For Corey Arceneaux, the mission has never been simply to preserve the past. It is to keep the music alive by allowing it to grow. Today, as an International Creole Zydeco Ambassador, recording artist, bandleader, broadcaster, composer, and father, Corey Arceneaux stands at the intersection of tradition and the future. Four generations came before him. His sons now stand beside him. And the music keeps moving forward. https://coreyarceneaux.com/bio

The historic property even includes its original post office and store wing. Now, you have a rare opportunity to explore this remarkable piece of American history!
