We Heart MFN Spirit Week Activities


Sunday Wellness Day: Community Run Club
Free

11am in front of Medford Brewing Co.

On Sunday, May 31st come get your miles in with some great company? Start Spirit Week on the right foot (literally!) with a community run in partnership with the Kier Byrnes Freedom Runners. All levels, strollers and paces and welcome. 3, 5 and 7 mile routes or choose your own.


The Plan:

  • Meet: 11:00am in front of Medford Brewing Co.
  • The Routes: Choose from 3, 5, or 7-mile loops—or go at your own distance!
  • The Perk: The taproom opens at noon, so there’s a cold beer (and a great community vibe) waiting for you at the finish line.

Good to Know:

  • Cost: Free (Open invite).
  • Logistics: Just show up! New runners are always welcome. You can safely leave coats and bags inside the brewery while you run.
  • Impact: While this is a free community event, we’ll have #WeHeartMFN info on hand if you'd like to learn more about our week of giving!

No Registration Required — But We’d Love a Heads Up! While you are more than welcome to just "lace up and show up," it helps us (and the brewery!) to know how many people to expect.

Sunday Wellness Day: Community Acupuncture

Take a moment to relax, reset, and recharge for the FMFN! Experience the deeply restorative benefits of community acupuncture while giving back to the village that raises our children. Appointments are available every 15 minutes.

Sunday Wellness Day: Beginner Pickleball Instruction

New to pickleball? Join local instructor Eric Kevorkian for a beginner-friendly introduction to the game. Learn the basics, practice skills, and get comfortable on the court in a relaxed and supportive environment. (Adults only).

Sunday Wellness Day: Organized Pickleball Open Play

Ready to play pickleball? If you already know the rules and how to keep score, then join local instructor Eric Kevorkian! We Heart MFN is hosting organized recreational games open to players of all levels. Come solo or with friends and enjoy some friendly community competition. (Adults only).

Get ready to tuck, pulse, and shake for the MFN on Sunday, May 31st! Join us at The Energy Barre for a high-energy community class. This signature session combines elements of Pilates, yoga, and strength training for a full-body workout that feels as good as the cause it supports. (Ages 15+ with a guardian).

The Details:

  • The Class: A rhythmic, low-impact, high-intensity workout signature to The Energy Barre.
  • The Cost: $10 Community Rate (Existing studio class credits and monthly memberships are also gladly accepted!)

  2. Pay at the door: Bring $10 cash or pay via Venmo when you arrive at class.

Sunday Wellness Day: Family Carr Park Playground Meetup

Join us on Sunday, May 31st to explore the newly updated playground at Carr Park! This is a casual social hour hosted by Sarah Lucas—perfect for letting the kids run wild on the new equipment while catching up with neighbors.

  • The Vibe: Low-key, outdoor social time.
  • Cost: Free & Open to All. No registration required! However, it helps us plan to know how many families to expect. If you think you'll stop by, give us a heads-up
Sunday Wellness Day: Family Wiggles & Jiggles for Ages 6–8

3:00pm-3:30pm | Carr Park

Join us for an adventure that is so much more than a standard workout! Wiggles & Jiggles designs high-energy enrichment classes filled with imaginative storytelling. Each session guides children through basic yoga poses mixed with strength-based movements to act out a fun story, using interactive props to encourage processing skills and keep everyone engaged!


Think your kids have outgrown the wiggle phase? Think again! This special session is specifically leveled up for ages 6-8. Expect high-energy group challenges, active movement games, and plenty of laughs.

Sunday Wellness Day: Community Yoga Flow

Join us on Sunday, May 31st to wind down your weekend and find your center with a special yoga session dedicated to the MFN community. CorePower Yoga is opening its doors for a C1 Heated Flow—the perfect, beginner-friendly way to reset for the week ahead while celebrating the "village" that supports us all.


The Details:

  • The Class: C1 (Heated). This is a foundational, soul-nourishing vinyasa flow practiced in a warm room. It’s designed to be relaxing, accessible, and focused on building gentle strength and flexibility.
  • The Vibe: Relaxing, grounding, and toasty!
  • Cost: Free to attend, but registration through CorePower is required. This class is offered at no cost to ensure accessibility for our entire community. All pay-what-you-can payments will go directly to the FMFN and the #WeHeartMFN campaign.

Good to Know:

  • What to Bring: Please bring a yoga mat, a large towel, and water (it will be warm!).
  • Ages: Minimum age is 16 (anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
  • Arrival: We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early to get settled in the space and meet the MFN crew.

Monday Flower Craft & Storytime with Miss Marie

Join us for a whimsical afternoon of creativity and a very special storytime! Hosted by Sarah Lucas, kids will get to design and build their very own miniature pipe cleaner gardens to take home.


Even more exciting? Miss Marie is joining us! She’ll be sharing a favorite story with the group while we work on our colorful "blooms."

  • The Activity: Creative pipe cleaner garden crafting.
  • Special Guest: Storytime featuring the one and only Marie Cassidy.

Monday Mosaics Workshop

Discover the art of glass mosaics! Join Live In Mosaics for a creative, beginner-friendly workshop where you’ll design a custom 4x6 picture frame or a set of two coasters.

Tuesday Maternal Journal: Connecting through Creativity

Midwife, Artist, and Mother Nerida Ackland is welcoming the community to join a creative art journaling workshop. Part of a global movement, Maternal Journal provides a supportive outlet for the new feelings and transitions of pregnancy and parenthood.


In honor of Spirit Week, your session can centered around the theme: "Community & Connection" Come explore your identity, find your creative flow, and connect with other local parents.


The Details:

  • The Experience: A guided journaling practice. No artistic experience required!
  • Materials: Sketchbooks and supplies are provided, or feel free to bring your own.
  • Children: Everyone is welcome to join!

Tuesday: Music Together Pop-Up Class with Joyful Music

Join us for a 45-minute interactive music class for children ages 0–4 and the grown-ups who love them. Sing, dance, play instruments, and explore a rich variety of songs and rhythms in a warm, welcoming community setting. Our mixed-age classes are designed to support your child’s musical growth while creating joyful moments together through music and movement.

  • The Vibe: Playful family music-making with singing, movement, rhythm activities, and instruments!

Tuesday Pajamas, Music & Plushies with Lindsay Munroe

5:00pm-7:00pm | GABH Patio

Wear your favorite PJs and bring your best stuffed friend for a cozy evening with local favorite, Lindsay Munroe! We’re turning the GABH patio into a giant community living room for a night of "Kindhearts" music and connection.

  • 5:00pm-7:00pm: Social Time. Arrive early to snag a spot, grab a drink, and order some pizza. The MFN team will be on-site with a table, merch, and "Village" info.
  • 5:30pm-6:30pm: Music with Lindsay. Lindsay will host an acoustic, unplugged "Circle Time" right on the floor with the kids.

  • The Dress Code: Pajamas and Teddy Bears are highly encouraged but not required!

Wednesday Moon & Back Storytime with Miss Marie

Join us for a cozy afternoon at Moon and Back Bookstore! This locally loved shop is the perfect backdrop for stories, crafts, and community. We’re hosting two special sessions with Miss Marie—including a dedicated slot for our school-aged neighbors!


Choose Your Session:

  • 10:30am–11:00am: Geared toward our littlest bookworms and preschoolers.
  • 3:00pm–3:30pm: Geared toward school-aged kids—stop by on your way home from school!

The Fun:

  • Storytime: Enjoy favorite tales read by the one and only Miss Marie.
  • Craft & Snack: Make a colorful flower craft and enjoy a quick snack.
  • The Treat: Every attendee receives a BOGO (Buy One, Get One) discount for CB Scoops right across the street!

Wednesday Line Dancing Night at GABH

Get ready to double the fun! We’re heading to the Great American Beer Hall for their popular weekly Line Dancing night. It’s the perfect excuse to grab a round of drinks with friends and show off your MFN spirit on the dance floor.

  • Lessons Included: Each session features professional lessons, so don't worry if you're a beginner—they’ll get you moving in no time!
  • MFN Favorites: We’re hopeful a few MFN favorite leaders will be joining the crowd to dance the night away.
  • Visit Our Table: The Friends of the MFN will have a table set up with fun and info. Come say hi between songs!

Thursday: Farmers Market Opening Day!

It’s the official Opening Day of the Medford Farmers Market, and we wouldn’t miss it! Join us as we celebrate the start of the season with special Spirit Week crafts and more from the FMFN.

The Friends of the Medford Family Network (FMFN) will be hosting a craft table, and as always, the Miss Marie and MFN will be there with the favorite blue tarp and plenty of fun-filled activities for the kids!


Registration: No registration is required to attend, but an RSVP is requested! It helps us make sure we have enough craft supplies for every child who stops by to create.

Friday: The MFN Teddy Bear Picnic & Marie's Celebration

Grab your favorite stuffed friend and join the MFN at Victory Park on Friday, June 5th for a very special morning! We are coming together to honor and celebrate the wonderful Marie Cassidy as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement.


This is more than just a picnic; it’s a chance for our "village" to show some love for Marie's years of dedication while enjoying all the MFN favorites.


The Fun-Filled Highlights:

  • Bubbles, parachute play, balls, and sidewalk chalk.
  • Ride-ons and the famous "roller coasters."
  • The Main Event: Our beloved Teddy Bear Parade!
  • Cindy’s Amazing Giant Bubble Show! Watch as the sky fills with massive, shimmering bubbles.
  • Special surprises from the Friends of the MFN to help the teddy bears celebrate Marie in style.

Good to Know:

  • All are welcome! Whether your family has known Marie for a decade or just a few weeks, we’d love to have you there.

  • Many local elected officials will be in attendance to show their community support and help us pay tribute to Marie’s incredible career.

Saturday: FMFN Porchfest Block Party & Kids' Karaoke

Keep the Medford Porchfest energy going with a family-friendly block party on Brookings Street! We’re creating a dedicated kid-friendly hub in the heart of the Hillside. While live music plays on nearby porches, our yard will be packed with activities for the little ones.

  • Kids’ Karaoke! Let the little stars take the mic.
  • Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, temporary tattoos, games, and crafts.
  • Wander the neighborhood to hear the porch bands, then loop back for the kids' activities!

Cost: Free & Open to All.

WeHeartMFN Yard Signs

Help us "paint the city purple" and spread the word about the Medford Family Network! These evergreen signs are a beautiful way to show your support during Spirit Week and all year long.

  • The Timeline: The first round of signs will be available for pickup starting late next week—just in time for the Spirit Week kickoff!
  • Delivery/Pickup: Once they arrive, we’ll email you with a schedule of local pickup times and neighborhood drop-off options.
  • The Impact: Every sign in a yard is a conversation starter that helps a new family discover the MFN village.
