Join the St Clair County Genealogy and History Society for a special opportunity to explore one of Port Huron’s historic landmarks — the beautiful Woman’s Life Building on Military Street. Founded in 1892 by Bina M. West, a Port Huron schoolteacher and pioneering advocate for women’s financial security, Woman’s Life began at a time when women had limited access to life insurance and financial independence. Her vision grew into an organization that has served generations of families while making lasting contributions to the community. For more than a century, the organization’s impressive headquarters, with its stately limestone columns and distinctive architecture, has been a familiar part of Port Huron’s landscape. Recognized as a Michigan Historic Site, the building stands as a testament to the remarkable legacy of Bina M. West and the organization she founded. Join us for a look inside this historic building and discover the stories, architecture, and local history that make it such an important part of Port Huron’s heritage.
