The EMU-AAUP is the union and collective bargaining agent for tenure and tenure-track faculty at Eastern Michigan University. As a chapter of the national AAUP, it advances academic freedom, shared governance, professional standards, and higher education's contribution to the common good. Founded in 1976, it is dedicated to the core values of the American Association of University Professors.
Mission
The EMU-AAUP is the local chapter of the national American Association of University Professors. As the faculty's union, they advise members on tenure and promotion and work with EMU administrators to assure the negotiated faculty contract terms are met.
