The Barre Historical Society, founded in 1909, is dedicated to preserving and celebrating Barre's rich heritage. The society fosters an appreciation for local history and provides educational programs connecting the community with the past. It manages the Main Building, Heritage Center, and Coach House Museum, which house vast collections. Open since 1909, the Society continues to welcome new members to help preserve Barre’s history.

The Barre Historical Society and Museum preserves and celebrates Barre's rich heritage, fostering an appreciation for history and providing a vibrant educational platform connecting the community with the past. They collect and display historical documents and objects particular to Barre.
