About
The Dominican Literacy Center in Aurora, IL, founded in 1993, empowers immigrant women by providing free, one-on-one tutoring in English language skills. Over 2,750 women have gained confidence and found their voice through improved communication. Trained volunteers offer personalized instruction, enabling women to participate more fully in their families, communities, and workplaces. The Center is guided by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois.
Mission
The Dominican Literacy Center empowers immigrant women and men by providing trained individual tutors to help them learn to read, write, and speak English. They also offer group classes for those preparing for naturalization, fostering a supportive learning community.
