Founded in 1865, the Empire State Association of the Deaf (ESAD) is the oldest active state association for the Deaf in the US. ESAD promotes the welfare of Deaf individuals in NY through advocacy, education, and resources, ensuring economic security, social equality, and equal rights. ESAD serves as a focal point for agencies supporting the Deaf community in NY.
Mission
The Association serves as the focal point of all cooperating agencies within New York State, promoting the welfare of the deaf in educational measures, employment, and in their pursuit of economic security, social equality, and all their just rights and privileges as citizens.
