About
First Colony Foundation, founded in 2004 in NC, researches the story of early American colonization attempts by Sir Walter Raleigh on Roanoke Island in the 1580s. They conduct archaeological research, educate the public, and partner with the National Park Service at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. Their work includes uncovering a hidden fort on Raleigh’s map and helping to create a new museum plan for the visitor center.
