The Fort Delaware Society, founded in 1950, is dedicated to preserving and raising awareness of historic Fort Delaware and its legacy. Originally formed to rescue the fort from neglect after its use as a Civil War prison, the Society works to restore the structure, conduct historical research, engage in community outreach, and fundraise for the fort's upkeep.
