The Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1978, protects the Gaylordsville Fire District and the Town of New Milford by providing fire protection and rescue services. Beginning with a group of 50 men, one fire truck bought for $240.00, and a building built entirely by volunteers, the GVFD has grown to be a well-equipped fire department serving a growing community.
