About
Groundwork Books, a leftist bookstore and community space in the UCSD Student Center, is a non-profit, worker-run cooperative. Founded in 2023, it promotes social change through leftist literature and community-building projects like the 'Books Through Bars' program, which sends books to incarcerated individuals. Groundwork Books is dedicated to fostering a safe space, dismantling capitalism, and empowering the community through organized activism and resource sharing.
Mission
Groundwork Books is a cooperatively managed bookshop run by volunteers, serving as a community resource for progressive literature and low-priced textbooks. It acts as a community hub and resource base based on principles of democracy, equality and anticapitalism.
