About
House of Umoja, founded in 1968, is an internationally acclaimed organization dedicated to eradicating violence and fostering community development. It addresses challenges preventing young males from reaching their potential. Originating in Philadelphia in the 1970s as a grassroots program by David and Falaka Fattah, it mediated gang conflicts and provided counsel. Programs include Umoja Youth Peace Corps, Block Parent Block by Block, Solution Saturdays, and the Million Fathers March.
Mission
The House of Umoja's mission is to reduce violence among at-risk youth, cultivate community, and build a safe haven campus. They work to eliminate discrimination and poverty, provide sanctuary for youth, and strengthen families through education and cultural understanding.
