About
Literary Women, founded in Long Beach in 1982, celebrates women authors and encourages new writers. It began to address the underrepresentation of women authors in high school reading lists. The annual Festival of Authors showcases contemporary women writers, offers support to emerging writers, and donates funds to the Long Beach Public Library to purchase books featured at the Festival.
Mission
Literary Women celebrates women authors, encourages new writers, and exposes the works of contemporary women authors to a diverse audience. They also support emerging writers through the Emerging Writer Program, aiming to showcase women’s voices, dreams, and achievements in writing and feeding the aesthetic self.
